A light, citrusy, refreshing and vibrant orange sangria that is perfect for kicking off the summer at your next barbecue or picnic on the beach.

Ingredients

  • 2 bottles of dry sauvignon blanc
  • 1 cup gin (preferably Hendrick’s)
  • 1/2 cup Aperol liqueur
  • 3/4 cup superfine sugar (add half a cup and taste before adding all the sugar and adjust to taste)
  • 2 blood oranges, thinly sliced
  • 2 limes, thinly sliced
  • 6 kumquats, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 large english cucumber, thinly sliced
  • Sparkling water

Instructions

  1. Pour wine, gin and aperol into a large pitcher. Add superfine sugar and stir until diluted. Add oranges, cucumbers, kumquats and limes. Cover and refrigerate for several hours before serving.
  2. When ready to serve put a couple oversized ice cubes in a glass, fill glass with two thirds sangria and top with sparkling water.
