Quick and easy to prepare, this homemade cocktail sauce is the classic accompaniment to chilled cooked shrimp, crab legs and raw oysters.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup catsup
  • 12 T lemon juice, to taste
  • Lemon zest, to taste
  • 12 T prepared horseradish, to taste
  • Worcestershire sauce, to taste
  • Tabasco sauce or sriracha, to taste

Optional ingredients:

  • Minced garlic
  • Pickle relish
  • Chili sauce
  • Fresh ground pepper
  • Finely minced parsley or dill

Instructions

  1. Mix all the ingredients together. Taste and adjust flavors according to your personal taste.
  2. Add one or more of the optional ingredients if you wish.
  3. Chill until ready to serve. Will last a week in the fridge.

Notes

Don’t get too hung up on the measurements. Start with 1/2 cup of catsup and then let your tastebuds tell you how much of the remaining ingredients. If it gets too potent, just add a bit more catsup. You can’t mess this up!
