Parmigiano reggiano appetizer

This extraordinarily simple appetizer takes 2 minutes to put together. It all hinges on the quality of the ingredients. So this is the time to bring out the good stuff. A good quality aged parmigiano reggiano, a good quality aged balsamic vinegar, some raw honey and a handful of dates.

Servings and serving suggestions

I have not called out measurements for this appetizer because it really isn't required and has to do with how many people you are serving, and what else you are serving. Use a parmigiano cheese knife to shard the cheese. This appetizer is meant to be eaten with your fingers. The dates are optional, but I think they go very well. You can also serve with dried figs. This combination can also be served in place of dessert at the end of a meal.

My friend Debi taught me about this amazing appetizer.

Parmigiano reggiano shards drizzled with honey and balsamic vinegar and served with medjool dates makes for a simple, but mouth-watering appetizer.

  • A chunk of parmigiano reggiano
  • Aged balsamic vinegar
  • Raw honey
  • Medjool dates
  • Crusty bread (optional)

Instructions

  1. Put a piece of parmigiano reggiano on a serving platter. Use a parmigiano cheese knife to shard the cheese by stabbing the cheese repeatedly.
