Talk About Fusion: Classic Tomato, Pesto Burrata Salad with Japanese Chili Crisp?

Chili Crisp | Something New For Dinner I am a huge fan of chili crisp (check out my blog post if you have yet to discover this amazing condiment). If you have not discovered chili crisp condiment, you are in for a treat. It makes everything delicious. No exaggeration. Eat it on eggs, noodles, avocado toast, salad, fish, tofu or chicken. One brand of chili crisp even advocates eating it on vanilla ice cream! Still, I was quite surprised when I discovered this crunchy garlic condiment is fabulous on a classic Italian tomato, pesto, burrata salad.

This Tomato, Pesto Burrata Salad is So Quick and Easy

Even Coco knows this salad is delicious!
This is an easy-to-make, but much appreciated salad. It is one of my husband's new favorites, thanks to the chili crisp. Don't worry about the quantities of the ingredients. A handful of this and a sprinkling of that will be as quantitative as you need to get. I provide rough quantities to serve 2 - 4, depending on what else you are eating. This could be a stand alone salad-for-dinner or served with some chicken or fish. Good bread is an excellent accompaniment to sop up all the goodness. Feel confident serving this salad to guests or just whipping it up when you need a quick weeknight meal.

Use the best heirloom tomatoes you can find. You can make your own pesto or buy store bought. I like to dilute the pesto a bit with extra virgin olive oil so it drizzles well. For some reason, the creamy burrata and the chili crisp go so well together. There is also avocado in the salad, and avocado is a big fan of chili crisp.

All chili crisp is not alike. There are many different kinds. My favorite is S & B Umami Topping Crunchy Garlic and you should definitely use this brand for this Tomato, Pesto Burrata Salad. Why? S & B has huge umami flavor, lots of crispy solids and is not overly hot. Some of the hotter, oilier brands would not work as well.
